Chicago White Sox middle infielder Chase Meidroth landed on the 10-day injured list Thursday with a right thumb contusion.
The move is retroactive to Monday for the 24-year-old rookie, who was hit by a Taijuan Walker pitch in a 9-3 loss to the Philadelphia Phillies on July 30.
Meidroth, acquired in the Dec. 11 trade that sent All-Star left-hander Garrett Crochet to the Boston Red Sox, is batting .252 with three homers, 15 RBIs and 11 stolen bases in 84 games this season. He has started 58 games at shortstop and 20 at second base.
In corresponding moves, Chicago called up infielder Jacob Amaya from Triple-A Charlotte and designated right-hander Gus Varland for assignment.
