Taylor held out to start the year in search of a new contract and finally got one, but missed four games before getting on the field in Week 5. And he started the season really slow, having fewer than 20-rushing yards each of his first two games. Taylor also missed three games because of injury, starting in Week 13. Taylor ended the year on a high note, showing why the Colts gave him a big contract. He had touchdowns three straight games to end the season and ran 30 times for 188 yards his last game of the year. Taylor ended the season with 894 total yards and eight touchdowns in 10 games. If he plays a full year, he gets 1,520 total yards and 14 touchdowns. And Taylor had the best yards after contact average (2.7) for running backs, showing he was very hard to bring down. And his numbers before contact were not good, averaging just 1.7 yards per carry before contact. So the Colts offensive line didn't make many big holes for him. If that unit can get better, look for Taylor's rushing numbers to go way up. Taylor is going to be the starting back for the Colts for years to come. He is just 25 years old and has plenty of good years left. Last season was his first as a pro failing to hit 1,000 total yards. Taylor is a complete back that can play three downs. He is a top athlete that can carry the load. He catches the ball well and can make plays between the tackles. Taylor also has very good speed and the ability to make plenty of plays on the outside.
FANTASY OUTLOOK: Taylor is a good buy-low candidate after last season. He can get it going again, showing that late last season. You have to remember he missed all of training camp last year, going into the season a little cold. The only concern for him is Anthony Richardson taking rushing touchdowns from him. That is a possibility. But even with that said, Taylor is a top-five fantasy back. Taylor can get around 1,700 total yards, 15 total touchdowns and 45 receptions.
Jonathan Taylor was known as an iron-man type of player, having never missed a game or a practice in his career, including high school, however, his last two seasons in the NFL have been riddled with nagging injuries that have limited him to 21 games over that span. This could be very concerning to some, and it has resulted in Taylor being a tremendous value in fantasy leagues this upcoming season. The injuries Taylor dealt with were in his ankle and his thumb, so there should be no lingering effects heading into 2024, and he is still one of the best pound-for-pound running backs in the league. At full strength, Taylor has break-away speed to house every touch, elite contact balance to break through tackles and create yards on his own, and bruising power to get the tough yards on critical downs and at the goal line. He will also enter this season having had a full offseason with the team after holding out last year for a new contract. Further, Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson is a Lamar Jackson-esque running threat which will open up a ton of running lanes for Taylor, an element the team lacked entirely with Gardner Minshew under center. When you add it all up, Taylor is the perfect recipe for league-winning upside because fantasy managers are sleeping on the truly elite player that he can be. He has been paid, he is fully healthy, and the team is hungry. His current ADP sits at the top of the second round at RB5, and I think you are getting a player who could easily finish as the RB2 behind Christian McCaffery. It doesn't sound like much of a jump, but when you can pair him with an elite WR, which you will not be able to do with McCaffery, everyone else in the league will be playing catch-up.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has been getting valuable repetitions during organized team activities this week with second-year quarterback Anthony Richardson. Last year at this time, Taylor and Richardson didn't practice together in the offseason because Taylor was hurt and in a contract dispute. When he returned in Week 5, Taylor played with Richardson for two snaps before Richardson suffered a season-ending shoulder injury. Taylor missed seven games in 2023 due to ankle and thumb injuries but ended the year with season-highs in carries (30) and rushing yards (188), including a 48-yard touchdown run. The 25-year-old should be a lock for 1,000 rushing yards in 2024 if he's healthy, and his ceiling will be pretty high if Richardson remains healthy all years as well, although the dynamic QB could vulture plenty of TDs at the goal line.

Indianapolis' RB Jonathan Taylor scored 27.60 fantasy points in Saturday's Week 18 loss against the Texans. Taylor ran for 188 yards and caught two passes for 8 yards with one touchdown.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the lone bright spot in the Colts' 23-19 loss to the Houston Texans on Saturday night. Taylor ran the ball 30 times for a whopping 188 yards on the ground and a touchdown. He reeled in both of his targets for an additional eight yards through the air. Taylor (heel) left the game in the second half briefly with an injury but did return just a few drives later. The 24-year-old closes out the regular season with 894 yards from scrimmage and eight total touchdowns in ten games played. Indy is now eliminated from playoff contention with their Week 18 loss.

Colts' RB Jonathan Taylor ran for 188 yards on 30 carries with one touchdown in Saturday's loss against the Texans.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor has slowly returned to his normal form, running the ball 21 times for 96 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 17 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. Taylor has now scored at least one touchdown in his last four matchups and looks to continue the streak in a win-and-in season finale against the Houston Texans. Houston has done a decent job defending the run this season, allowing the third least rushing yards per game and the 15th least fantasy points to opposing running backs. Fellow running back Zack Moss (forearm) is questionable ahead of this matchup, but it will be Taylor in all likelihood getting the vast majority of opportunities regardless of Moss' status. Fantasy managers can expect Indy to play through Taylor in their most important game of the season, and can look to start him as a high-end RB2 accordingly.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor ran the ball 21 times for 96 yards and a touchdown in the team's 23-20 win against the Las Vegas Raiders. He also reeled in his only target of the day for another eight yards through the air. Taylor once again saw a huge workload in running back Zack Moss (forearm), receiving over 80% of the team's running back opportunities. With his touchdown today, he now extends his touchdown streak to four games. He'll look to continue his momentum in Week 18 when Indy hosts the Houston Texans, and fantasy managers in all formats can look to include him in lineups for that contest.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor ran the ball 18 times for 43 yards and a touchdown in the team's Week 16 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. He now gears up for a Week 17 matchup against the Raiders, one in which fellow running back Zack Moss (forearm) has been ruled out from. Taylor is set for another large workload, against a defense that's allowed the tenth most points to opposing fantasy running backs this season. That being said, their more recent form has been much better as Las Vegas has allowed just the third least amount of points to opposing fantasy running backs over the last four weeks. With all that in mind, Taylor's potential volume in Moss' absence puts him in contention for a solid RB2 play in Week 17.

Dynasty | Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had 43 rushing yards and a touchdown in the Colts loss to Atlanta. Dynasty Analysis: Taylor was poised to have a big game and scored on the opening possession. However, things went South in a hurry for Indianapolis and a negative game script kept him from logging more work. On the plus side, Taylor was able to make it through the game unscathed and should be in line for some solid efforts over the next two weeks.Taylor has shown enough this season to be back in the fold as a top five running back going into next year's drafts.
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor carried the ball 18 times for 43 yards and a touchdown in a 29-10 loss to the Atlanta Falcons. Taylor was not involved in the passing game, seeing just one target which he did not catch. Coming back from his thumb injury, the fifth-year back went right back into his full workload receiving over 85% of the running back opportunities. Taylor will look to keep the momentum going in Week 17 when the Colts face off against the Las Vegas Raiders.

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) has been removed from the injury report and will play against the Atlanta Falcons in Week 16. He was a full participant in practice all week long and should be 100 percent on Sunday. The star playmaker ranks as a low-end RB1 in fantasy football, especially against an Atlanta defense surrendering 115.3 scrimmage yards per game to opposing backfields.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) is expected to play on Sunday versus the Atlanta Falcons. Head coach Shane Steichen said the 24-year-old "looks good" and expressed optimism about his availability for Week 16. If confirmed as active, Taylor will return to the low-end RB1 tier after missing three weeks. During the five games prior to his absence, Taylor was averaging 75.4 rushing yards, 15 receiving yards, and 0.8 touchdowns. Managers should have full confidence in Indianapolis' lead back as the fantasy football playoffs continue.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) said he will practice again on Thursday and that will determine a lot toward his status for Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday. Taylor said he'll wear some sort of brace/wrap. He had his surgically repaired right thumb wrapped up in a T-shirt when he spoke to reporters. The Colts listed the 24-year-old as a full practice participant on their estimated report on Wednesday, signaling he has a pretty good chance to return from a three-game absence following thumb surgery. Zack Moss (shoulder) is also questionable after getting hurt in Week 15, so Taylor could have a pretty big role this Sunday against Atlanta if he gets through the next two days of practice unscathed.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) was listed as a full participant on Wednesday's estimated practice report. It was reported earlier that Taylor would take part in the team's walkthrough session, but a listed as a full participant is a pleasant surprise for fantasy managers still playing for a title in 2023. It sounds as though Taylor is tracking towards a return this weekend to face the Atlanta Falcons following a three-game absence due to right-thumb surgery. It's also notable that Zack Moss (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday after getting hurt in Saturday's win over the Pittsburgh Steelers. It's unclear if Taylor would have a cap put on his snaps if he plays in Week 16, but at the very least it looks like he'll be back to face the Falcons on the road.
From RotoBaller
Indianapolis Colts head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Wednesday that running back Jonathan Taylor (thumb) is progressing well and will take part in the team's walkthrough practice like he's done the last few weeks. There remains optimism that Taylor will return to action in Week 16 against the Atlanta Falcons, but he'll be evaluated on a daily basis. The 24-year-old had surgery on his thumb and has been absent the last three games. It would be good timing for the Colts backfield for Taylor to be able to return this weekend, as Zack Moss (shoulder) is dealing with an injury that could put him in jeopardy of playing against Atlanta. The Colts backfield is in flux at the moment, although it seems likely that one of Taylor or Moss will be active. If not, Indy would be down to Trey Sermon and Tyler Goodson.
