Raiders fire special teams coordinator Tom McMahon

Fri Nov 7 5:31pm ET
Field Level Media

The Las Vegas Raiders fired special teams coordinator Tom McMahon, the team announced Friday afternoon.

It would appear Thursday's 10-7 loss to the Denver Broncos was the final straw for McMahon, who has been in that role with the Raiders since 2022, two head coaches ago.

In that narrow loss, punter AJ Cole had a punt blocked for the second time this season, setting up what became the game-winning field goal for Denver. Las Vegas kicker Daniel Carlson missed a would-be game-tying field goal with 4:26 left.

A missed extra point the week prior in the overtime loss to Jacksonville and a blocked field goal in the Raiders' 25-24 loss to Chicago on Sept. 28 also loom large as special teams problems that have played a role in the team's 2-7 record.

"Earlier today, we made the tough decision to relieve Tom McMahon of his duties as special teams coordinator," coach Pete Carroll said in a statement. "I have a great amount of respect for Tom and the work that has done in this league, but we have decided to move in a different direction. Derius Swinton II will assume special teams coordinator duties for the second half of this season with outstanding intent and purpose.

"We are grateful for Tom and his work here with the Raiders and wish him nothing but the best moving forward."

McMahon has been consistently working as a special teams coach in the NFL since he was the assistant special teams coach for the Atlanta Falcons in 2007-08. He's since served as the ST coordinator for the St. Louis Rams (2009-11), Kansas City Chiefs (2012), Indianapolis Colts (2013-17) and Broncos (2018-21) before landing in Las Vegas.

Value Picks: Week 10

Player Notes
Terrell Jennings Nov 9 2:00pm ET
Terrell Jennings

New England Patriots running back Terrell Jennings (knee) exited during the first quarter of Sunday's Week 10 contest against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He is officially listed as questionable to return. At the time of his departure, he had five rushing yards on four carries, including the Patriots' first rush attempt of the game. Jennings had been handling increased volume alongside TreVeyon Henderson with Rhamondre Stevenson (toe) sidelined for the second consecutive week. Henderson will remain atop the depth chart while D'Ernest Johnson operates as his backup until Jennings can return.

Drake London Nov 9 1:40pm ET
Drake London

Atlanta Falcons wide receiver Drake London caught six of his eight targets for 104 yards and one touchdown during Sunday's Week 10 loss against the Indianapolis Colts. The former first-round pick tallied 100+ yards and at least one touchdown for the fourth time in his last five games. He has cemented himself as the only consistent pass-catching option in Atlanta as Kyle Pitts and Darnell Mooney continue to post iffy results week over week. London should remain a high-end WR1 option when the Falcons host the Carolina Panthers in Week 11.

Jonathan Taylor Nov 9 1:20pm ET
Jonathan Taylor

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor had 32 carries for 244 rushing yards and three rushing touchdowns during Sunday's overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons in Berlin. He also caught all three of his targets for an additional 42 receiving yards. The superstar running back strengthened his candidacy for the NFL rushing title, and he also improved his unlikely but not impossible odds in the MVP race. Taylor is now the overall RB1 in fantasy football this season. He remains an undisputed must-start on the other side of Indianapolis' Week 11 bye.

Ollie Gordon II Nov 9 12:20pm ET
Ollie Gordon II

Miami Dolphins rookie running back Ollie Gordon II (ankle), who was considered questionable for Week 10 against the division-rival Buffalo Bills, is officially active on Sunday. Gordon suffered an ankle injury in last Thursday night's Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens, but with more time to recover between games, he's ready to roll this weekend. The 21-year-old has been Miami's RB2 so far this year behind bell-cow RB De'Von Achane, which has forced Jaylen Wright down to RB3 duties. In his first nine NFL games, Gordon has had 40 rushing attempts for 122 yards (3.1 yards per tote) and a touchdown while adding six receptions for 30 yards and another TD on eight targets. The 6-foot-2, 225-pounder gives the Dolphins a size/speed combination they haven't had in a while, but unless Achane gets hurt, he won't be much more than a handcuff in fantasy.

Julian Hill Nov 9 12:20pm ET
Julian Hill

Miami Dolphins tight end Julian Hill (ankle) is officially inactive for Sunday's divisional clash against the visiting Buffalo Bills at Hard Rock Stadium in Week 10. Despite logging three limited practices this week, Hill will miss his third straight game. The 25-year-old has not been able to take advantage of Darren Waller (pectoral) being on Injured Reserve. With Hill out again this weekend, Greg Dulcich figures to be the team's top pass-catching TE after he caught all five of his targets for 49 yards in the Week 9 loss to the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday Night Football. Still, Dulcich won't be much more than a low-end TE2 streaming option for fantasy managers against Buffalo. Hill is still searching for his first touchdown of the year and has only 10 receptions for 77 yards on 13 carries for Miami in 2025.

Josh Palmer Nov 9 12:10pm ET
Josh Palmer

Buffalo Bills wide receiver Joshua Palmer (ankle, knee) is officially inactive for a divisional clash on Sunday against the Miami Dolphins in Week 10. Palmer put in limited practices this week, but the Bills didn't think he was ready to return to action just yet. The 26-year-old pass-catcher has not played since Week 6 and has been a disappointment so far in his first year in Buffalo after joining the team in free agency. With Palmer out again in Miami this weekend, the Bills will continue on with Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman as their top options at the position, with Elijah Moore, Curtis Samuel, and Tyrell Shavers battling for WR3 targets. Palmer's next chance to return will be for a Week 11 tilt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He should remain on the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues. Palmer has only 14 catches for 234 yards and no touchdowns so far in 2025 on 20 targets.

D'Andre Swift Nov 9 12:10pm ET
D'Andre Swift

Chicago Bears running back D'Andre Swift (groin, personal) is active for Sunday's Week 10 contest against the New York Giants. He had been listed as questionable after missing Friday's practice. The veteran ball-carrier has impressed when healthy this season, but after a short absence, he suddenly faces competition from standout rookie Kyle Monangai. With a wintry mix falling and a matchup against the Giants' 31st-ranked run defense, the Bears are expected to use a healthy dose of both Swift and Monangai out of the backfield on Sunday. Both can be low-end RB2 options in fantasy football.

Cedric Tillman Nov 9 12:00pm ET
Cedric Tillman

Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman (hamstring) has been activated from Injured Reserve and is officially active for the Week 10 contest on Sunday against the hosting New York Jets at MetLife Stadium. Tillman will be playing in his first game since injuring his hamstring in Week 4, so he could have some limitations in terms of his snap count this weekend. The matchup is a good one against a Jets secondary that just traded away All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner, but the 25-year-old will still be a pretty risky WR4/flex for fantasy managers in his first game back with rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel now running the Browns' offense. Still, Tillman is worth a pickup off the waiver wire if he's available in your league and you need WR depth. Rookie wideout Isaiah Bond (foot) is out on Sunday, so it's possible Tillman is heavily involved right away.

Carson Schwesinger Nov 9 12:00pm ET
Carson Schwesinger

Cleveland Browns rookie linebacker Carson Schwesinger (ankle), who was listed as questionable for the Week 10 game against the New York Jets, is officially active on Sunday at MetLife Stadium. Schwesinger will be active despite suffering a high-ankle sprain in the team's Week 8 loss to the New England Patriots, but he was able to heal up during last week's bye. The 22-year-old could be slowed down a bit, but he was fortunate to suffer just a low-grade high-ankle sprain. He's been a bright spot for a capable Browns defense in his first year in the NFL, totaling 64 tackles (25 solo), a sack, four tackles for loss, one interception, and a pass breakup in his eight starts. The Browns' defense/special teams is a top-five fantasy option this weekend against a Jets team coming into the weekend with just one win on the season.

Jourdan Lewis Nov 9 11:53am ET
Jourdan Lewis

The Jacksonville Jaguars have declared TE Hunter Long, RB Cody Schrader, DL Austin X. Johnson, WR Brian Thomas Jr., OL Ezra Cleveland and CB Jourdan Lewis inactive for Week 10.

Alvin Kamara Nov 9 11:53am ET
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) is active for Week 10's game versus the Carolina Panthers.

Fantasy Spin: Kamara had been listed as questionable on the injury report after being a limited participant in all three of New Orleans' practice sessions during the week. He continues to be an important part of the Saints' running and passing games and can be viewed as a flex option or better in fantasy leagues.

Chris Godwin Nov 9 11:53am ET
Chris Godwin

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have declared DT CJ Brewer, LB Haason Reddick, OT Luke Haggard, LB Markees Watts, RB Bucky Irving, OG Elijah Klein and WR Chris Godwin inactive for Week 10.

Jameis Winston

The New York Giants have declared C John Michael Schmitz, OG Evan Neal, PK Graham Gano, QB Jameis Winston, DE Victor Dimukeje, CB Paulson Adebo and DE Chauncey Golston inactive for Week 10.

From TheHuddle

Adonai Mitchell Nov 9 11:50am ET
Adonai Mitchell

New York Jets wide receivers Allen Lazard and Adonai Mitchell are both healthy inactives for the team's Week 10 contest on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. Despite Josh Reynolds (hip) being on Injured Reserve, Lazard will sit out coming out of the team's bye week. The 29-year-old caught just one of his two targets for five yards in the Week 8 win over the Cincinnati Bengals, and he has only seven catches for 45 yards and a touchdown in 2025 with the Jets. Mitchell was acquired from the Indianapolis Colts at Tuesday's trade deadline in the deal that sent All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner to the Colts, but the Jets don't think he's ready to contribute on offense just yet. John Metchie III, who was acquired from the Philadelphia Eagles last week, is active, though, and could be battling for WR2 duties behind Wilson in his debut with the team.

Aaron Jones Nov 9 11:50am ET
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr.(shoulder, toe) is officially active for Sunday's Week 10 contest against the Baltimore Ravens. He had been listed as questionable after logging a limited practice on Friday. Jones exited last week's game with a shoulder injury, but it wasn't too serious, and now he'll return to action just seven days later. The 30-year-old should lead the Vikings' backfield on Sunday, looking to build off his average of 8.7 yards per carry from Week 9. He remains a low-end RB2 in fantasy football.

From RotoBaller

Harold Fannin Jr. Nov 9 11:50am ET
Harold Fannin Jr.

Cleveland Browns rookie tight end Harold Fannin Jr. (hamstring) is officially active on Sunday as the team takes on the New York Jets in Week 10. Fannin was added to this week's injury report after not practicing on Thursday, and he entered Sunday's game with a questionable tag. The 21-year-old should remain in starting fantasy lineups in a plus matchup against a Jets team that lost two of their best playmakers at the trade deadline on Tuesday in defensive lineman Quinnen Williams and cornerback Sauce Gardner. Fannin comes into Sunday's tilt with team highs in catches (38), receiving yards (352), and targets (51) while also scoring twice to begin his NFL career. His fantasy ceiling is a bit capped with David Njoku also being involved, but at the very least, Fannin should be considered a low-end TE2 for fantasy managers now that he's officially playing.

Aaron Jones Nov 9 11:43am ET
Aaron Jones

Minnesota Vikings RB Aaron Jones (shoulder) is active for Week 10's game versus the Baltimore Ravens.

Fantasy Spin: Jones had been listed as questionable on the injury report after participating on a limited basis in two of Minnesota's three practice sessions during the week. He should see the bulk of the carries for the Vikings this afternoon and can be deployed as an RB2 or flex option in fantasy league lineups.

From TheHuddle

Rasul Douglas Nov 9 11:43am ET
Rasul Douglas

The Miami Dolphins have declared QB Quinn Ewers, CB Rasul Douglas, LB Andre Carter II, WR Dee Eskridge, S Ashtyn Davis, LB Chop Robinson and TE Julian Hill inactive for Week 10.

From TheHuddle

Alvin Kamara Nov 9 11:40am ET
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's Week 10 contest against the Carolina Panthers. He had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity. It's been a rough stretch of games for Kamara, who has just 12 carries over his last two games and is averaging just 2.7 yards per carry since Week 5. His usage and productivity in the receiving game have dwindled, too. However, he has a chance to bounce back in a favorable matchup against the Panthers. Fantasy managers should give him one more chance to produce as a low-end RB2 this week.

From RotoBaller

Garrett Wilson Nov 9 11:40am ET
Garrett Wilson

As expected, New York Jets wide receiver Garrett Wilson (knee) is active for the Week 10 game on Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. After missing a couple of games due to a hyperextended knee, Wilson is ready to go coming out of the team's Week 9 bye. The 25-year-old will immediately return to being the team's top wideout, and he shouldn't face any restrictions this weekend. The drawback for fantasy managers is that the Jets have had one of the worst passing attacks in the league this year, and Wilson will have a bad matchup against Cleveland's defense. Targets shouldn't be an issue for Wilson, but efficiency against the Browns could be. Wilson comes into Week 10 action with 36 receptions on the year for 395 yards and four touchdowns in six games as quarterback Justin Fields' top target. Despite the tough matchup, fantasy managers should get him back into their lineups.
