Trevor Megill Tue May 28 10:50pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers relief pitcher Trevor Megill (arm) was forced to leave Tuesday's game in the 10th inning against the visiting division-rival Chicago Cubs after he was hit in the right arm by a line drive off the bat of outfielder Mike Tauchman. Megill was hit with the loss, his first of the year, after allowing two runs (one earned) on just one hit to raise his season ERA to 2.57. We should have a better idea of how serious the 30-year-old reliever's injury is later on Tuesday night or early Wednesday morning after he likely undergoes some tests. Megill has emerged as Milwaukee's go-to arm for save situations with Devin Williams (back) on the shelf all year. Coming into Tuesday's game, Megill had a sharp 1.93 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with his first eight career saves. If Megill is forced to miss extended time with his arm injury, Elvis Peguero and Bryan Hudson could be options for save opportunities.UPDATE: Megill did not suffer a fracture, per manager Pat Murphy.

Francisco Lindor Tue May 28 10:40pm CT

New York Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor (finger) hurt his left index finger on his bunt attempt late in the loss in Game 1 of a doubleheader on Tuesday against the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Lindor's finger was swollen and looked painful, but he said X-rays came back negative for any breaks. The 30-year-old left-handed hitter clubbed a two-run home run in the Game 1 loss and went 1-for-4 in the nightcap of the twin bill, so it's clearly not a serious injury he's dealing with. However, the Mets could certainly give him the day off in Wednesday's series finale, so fantasy managers need to be on the looking to see if Lindor is in the starting lineup. Lindor went 2-for-9 with a home run, two RBI and a run scored in the doubleheader on Tuesday to extend his current hitting streak to seven games.

Keider Montero Tue May 28 9:30pm CT

According to a source, the Detroit Tigers are calling up pitching prospect Keider Montero from Triple-A Toledo to be the 27th man on Wednesday for their doubleheader against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Nothing is official yet, but it looks like Detroit's No. 7 prospect, per MLB Pipeline, will make his major-league debut on Wednesday in a spot start in one of the games of a doubleheader after Tuesday's contest in Pittsburgh was rained out. Montero is getting his first major-league call-up after going 0-1 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.47 WHIP with 17 walks and 36 strikeouts over 30 2/3 innings and nine starts for Toledo. The 23-year-old Venezuelan hurler can spin the ball with the best of them, but his struggles to control his secondary pitches and his vulnerability to the long ball will make him a risky fantasy streaming option in his MLB debut. And there's a good chance he'll be sent back to Toledo after Wednesday's game.

Vinnie Pasquantino Tue May 28 9:20pm CT

Updating a previous report, Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino (leg) left Tuesday night's game against the Minnesota Twins early with a lower left-leg contusion. X-rays came back negative and he is considered day-to-day for now. Pasquantino collided with Twins outfielder Byron Buxton in the third inning and took a knee to the shin that forced him to hit the showers early. Thankfully, the injury doesn't appear to be very serious, although the 26-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman could get the day off on Wednesday as a precaution. Before leaving the game, Pasquantino struck out in his only plate appearance to drop his season average to .224. Salvador Perez moved from catcher to first base to replace Pasquantino. He has looked better at the plate in May, but he also hasn't homered since May 9.

Freddie Freeman Tue May 28 9:10pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers first baseman Freddie Freeman enjoyed a big day at the plate in Tuesday's win over the hosting New York Mets during Game 1 of a doubleheader, belting his sixth home run of the season with three RBI. After an RBI single in the eighth inning off left-hander Jake Diekman, Freeman buried the Mets with a two-run homer to right off right-hander Jorge Lopez that extended the Dodgers' lead in the 10th inning. The power hasn't really been there thus far this year for the 34-year-old fantasy sensation, who's still quietly slashing .291/.394/.461 with six long balls, 33 RBI, and one stolen base through 57 games as LA's everyday No. 3 hitter in a stacked lineup. With that said, Freeman remains a set-and-forget fantasy play on a daily basis and should pick things up soon.

TJ Friedl Tue May 28 9:00pm CT

Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl (thumb) took live batting practice before Tuesday's matchup against the division-rival St. Louis Cardinals. After taking swings against a high-velocity pitching machine on Monday, Friedl was also scheduled to run the bases and do some throwing on Tuesday. Manager David Bell has previously noted that Friedl could be reinstated from the injured list as soon as Wednesday's series finale against the Cardinals, and the outfielder looks to be making good progress from a fractured left thumb. It's been a stop-start season for the 28-year-old left-handed hitter, who missed a large chunk of time to begin the campaign due to injury and has gone just 4-for-22 (.182) with two RBI, two runs scored, and two stolen bases when healthy in six outings, but Friedl's power/speed potential with the ability to hit for average atop Cincinnati's lineup at a hitter-friendly ballpark offers him plenty of upside as a fantasy stash.

Tylor Megill Tue May 28 9:00pm CT

New York Mets starting pitcher Tylor Megill took a tough-luck no-decision in Tuesday's loss to the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers during the matinee of a twin bill, throwing seven scoreless innings on three hits and one walk with nine strikeouts. Megill impressively held down a vaunted Dodgers lineup in Game 1 on Tuesday, delivering one of the best performances of his career. The big 28-year-old right-hander has been limited to three starts for the Mets this year, but he's been very effective when healthy with 1.69 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 20:6 K:BB over 16 innings. Sunday's series finale at home against the disappointing Arizona Diamondbacks marks Megill's next projected start, and he'll carry a decent level of streaming appeal for fantasy purposes in that one to close the week.

    From RotoBaller

Dean Kremer Tue May 28 8:50pm CT

Baltimore Orioles manager Brandon Hyde said prior to Tuesday's game against the division-rival Boston Red Sox that starting pitcher Dean Kremer (triceps) is continuing to improve. Kremer isn't experiencing as much soreness as he recovers from a strained right triceps, and he's expected to play catch "soon." The 28-year-old right-hander is a streaming option in fantasy when healthy, as evidenced by his serviceable 4.32 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, 49:18 K:BB, and a career-best .204 average against over nine starts (50 innings) in 2024, but that doesn't mean he's a must-stash player. Veterans Albert Suarez and Cole Irvin will help plug up Baltimore's banged-up rotation in the meantime, and both hurlers will be worth streaming during the upcoming weekend set at home against the Tampa Bay Rays.

    From RotoBaller

Bobby Miller Tue May 28 8:40pm CT

Los Angeles Dodgers starting pitcher Bobby Miller's (shoulder) next minor-league rehab start will come either on Friday or Saturday. Miller will throw four innings during that outing, and then the Dodgers will evaluate where he's at his in his recovery from inflammation in his right shoulder. After throwing 55 pitches and allowing three runs over three innings in his first rehab start with Single-A Rancho Cucamonga on Sunday, Miller will likely need at least one more outing in the minors following this weekend's appearance before he re-enters LA's rotation. Although the 25-year-old fire-balling right-hander has given up seven runs over 11 2/3 innings this season, his 18:6 K:BB and top-notch strikeout upside makes him a must-stash fantasy asset with a mid-June return appearing likely. 2023 top prospect Gavin Stone will remain worth streaming in favorable matchups until Miller is back in the mix.

    From RotoBaller

Josh Lowe Tue May 28 8:30pm CT

Tampa Bay Rays outfielder Josh Lowe (oblique) resumed all baseball activities prior to Tuesday's game against the visiting Oakland Athletics, going through a full workout on the field and a full program in the batting cage. Both Lowe and the Rays are pleased with his progress as he works his way through a strained right oblique, and the outfielder said he will now ramp up his activity every day. Lowe still has to hit against a high-velocity pitching machine and throw to bases at game speed, but he expects to be ready to return to Tampa Bay's outfield by the time he's first eligible to return, which would be during the first week of June. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger got a late start to the season due to injury, slashing a mediocre .240/.296/.440 with two home runs, three RBI, and five runs scored through just 50 at-bats (14 games), but his five-category fantasy upside in the top-third of Tampa's lineup makes him a must-stash player in all leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Zach Eflin Tue May 28 8:20pm CT

Tampa Bay Rays starting pitcher Zach Eflin (back) played catch again ahead of Tuesday's contest against the visiting Oakland Athletics. The plan is for Eflin to throw a bullpen session on Thursday, which would mark his first activity from the mound since the Rays placed the hurler on the injured list on May 20 due to inflammation in his lower back. It's not yet known if Eflin will require a brief minor-league rehab assignment before rejoining Tampa Bay's rotation, but he's on course to return sometime in early-to-mid June if all continues to go smoothly in his throwing progression. While the big 30-year-old right-hander owns a disappointing 4.12 ERA over 59 innings in 2024 following a career season in 2023, his 44:4 K:BB across 10 starts means Eflin needs to be stashed in fantasy leagues of all shapes and sizes.

    From RotoBaller

Vinnie Pasquantino Tue May 28 8:10pm CT

Kansas City Royals first baseman Vinnie Pasquantino (leg) exited Tuesday's game against the division-rival Minnesota Twins with an apparent injury to his foot or lower leg. Pasquantino collided with Twins outfielder Byron Buxton, who was trying to beat out an infield single in the third inning, and he gingerly walked off the field. Freddy Fermin came into catch, with Salvador Perez shifting over to first base to replace Pasquantino. The Royals will further evaluate Pasquantino and provide an official diagnosis sometime either during or after Tuesday's contest. The 26-year-old left-handed slugger has put together an up-and-down season, slashing a pedestrian .224/.307/.388 with five home runs, 33 RBI, and 25 runs scored over 53 games (183 at-bats) as KC's everyday No. 3 batter.

    From RotoBaller

Alex Ramirez Tue May 28 7:40pm CT

New York Mets outfield prospect Alex Ramirez is on pace to smash his previous career-high in stolen bases this season. Currently, through 39 games with Double-A, the 21-year-old has already stolen 19 bases. His previous season-high was 21 swiped bags in 2022. In the batter's box he has posted a solid .247/.318/.351 line with two long balls and 22 RBI. MLB Pipeline ranks the outfielder as the number 16 prospect in Queens and projects him to reach the majors sometime next season. Dynasty managers should continue to monitor Ramirez as he is developing into one of the best base stealers in the minor leagues.

    From RotoBaller

Merrill Kelly Tue May 28 6:40pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that right-hander Merrill Kelly (shoulder) is expected to start his throwing program next week. It's positive news for Kelly, but he still has a ways to go while recovering from a right-shoulder strain and may not make it back to Arizona's starting rotation until around the All-Star break in mid-July. Before going on a minor-league rehab assignment, the 35-year-old veteran needs to build his arm back up and throw off the mound at least a handful of times. Based on the way Kelly had looked early in 2024 before going on the shelf, he should be stashed in most fantasy leagues until he returns to fully healthy. Kelly is currently 2-0 this year with a 2.19 ERA and 0.93 WHIP with 21 strikeouts in 24 2/3 innings over his four starts.

    From RotoBaller

Erik Swanson Tue May 28 6:40pm CT

The Toronto Blue Jays reinstated right-hander Chad Green (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list on Tuesday and optioned right-hander Erik Swanson to Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move. Green will be available out of the bullpen for Toronto for Tuesday night's game in Chicago against the White Sox for the first time since being put on the injured list in mid-April with a right-shoulder strain. The 33-year-old veteran tossed three scoreless innings on a minor-league rehab start with Buffalo and should be ready to immediately jump into his late-inning setup role in front of closer Jordan Romano. Green is valuable in holds leagues and as a handcuff to Romano. Swanson has come apart in 2024 and will look for answers on the farm. The 30-year-old has allowed 14 earned runs on 20 hits (five homers) while walking four and fanning 10 in 13 2/3 relief innings in 2024.

    From RotoBaller

Brandon Woodruff Tue May 28 6:30pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) was seen playing catch on Tuesday before the team's game against the visiting division-rival Chicago Cubs. Woodruff has already declared himself out for all of the 2024 season after he had surgery to fix the anterior capsule in his right shoulder, but it's good news to hear that he's already started a throwing program. Despite having surgery last fall, the Brewers signed the 31-year-old veteran to a two-year, $7.5 million deal. Barring a setback as he ramps up his throwing program, Woodruff should start throwing off a mound at some point this summer as he looks to be full-go for spring training next year. When healthy, Woodruff is a high-end fantasy starter in all formats. In 11 starts before he was shut down last year, he went 5-1 with a stingy 2.28 ERA and 0.82 WHIP with 15 walks and 74 K's in 11 starts (67 frames).

    From RotoBaller

Geraldo Perdomo Tue May 28 6:30pm CT

Arizona Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that the team is planning to get shortstop Geraldo Perdomo (knee) into live games "very, very shortly" as he continues his rehab process. Perdomo has taken live at-bats but hasn't run the bases yet. Once the 24-year-old shortstop is cleared to go on a minor-league rehab assignment, he might not be far away from being reinstated from the injured list to rejoin Arizona's big-league roster. Still, fantasy managers shouldn't expect him to return until the calendar flips to June. When he's back in the desert, Perdomo should take over regular duties at the 6 for the D-backs. He was hitting .250 (6-for-24) with no homers and two RBI at the time of his injury in early April. Kevin Newman and Blaze Alexander have seen playing time at shortstop since Perdomo went down. Perdomo will first start playing in live games in the Arizona Complex League before likely going on a rehab assignment with Triple-A Reno.

    From RotoBaller

Rhys Hoskins Tue May 28 6:20pm CT

Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins (hamstring) was running on the field on Tuesday and has some more strides to make in that area literally and figuratively, but it's not out of the question that he is activated from the injured list in time for a return to Philadelphia next week to face the Phillies, according to manager Pat Murphy. The Brew Crew starts a three-game series in Philly next Monday night. The 31-year-old Hoskins will return to regular duties at first base for the Brewers when he's ready to return from a strained right hamstring that landed him on the injured list on May 14. The former fifth-round pick by the Phillies in 2014 out of Sacramento State missed all of last year due to a torn ACL that he suffered in spring training with the Phils. He was hitting .233/.340/.474 with an .813 OPS, nine home runs and 27 RBI in 133 at-bats before his injury.

    From RotoBaller

    Tyler O'Neill Tue May 28 6:10pm CT

Boston Red Sox outfielder Tyler O'Neill (knee) was sent back to Boston to get more imaging done on his right knee on Wednesday, which means that he won't be available for fantasy managers for the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles. It remains to be seen if O'Neill will be ready to play on Thursday for the start of a series versus the visiting Detroit Tigers. Manager Alex Cora said the additional tests are more for reassurance than the team fearing anything is significantly wrong with O'Neill, but it opens up more of a possibility that the 28-year-old will be forced to go on the injured list. O'Neill was forced to miss his third straight game with his knee injury and has slowed down at the plate since a hot month of April. If he's forced to miss more time going into the weekend, it will only benefit Rob Refsnyder, who has been swinging a hot bat in 2024 in limited action.

    From RotoBaller

Chase DeLauter Tue May 28 6:00pm CT

Cleveland Guardians outfield prospect Chase DeLauter (foot) is set to return to the lineup ahead of Tuesday's game for Double-A Akron. The 22-year-old top prospect was able to avoid surgery to repair a fracture in his left foot. However, DeLauter still missed nearly a month of action due to the injury. DeLauter has been looking like a star and should make it to the big leagues at some point next season. He is the team's top prospect, per MLB Pipeline.
