Miguel Vargas Fri May 2 9:00am CT

Chicago White Sox third baseman Miguel Vargas hit a three-run home run in the sixth inning on Thursday against Craig Yoho to give the White Sox a comfortable 4-0 lead over the Milwaukee Brewers as they held on to win 9-0 in the ballgame and get their eighth win of the season. Vargas has been tearing it up at the plate lately, slashing .455/.520/.636 over his last seven days. On the season, he is now up to .222/.311/.333 with two home runs, 12 RBI, and 12 runs scored. Vargas began the season batting at the top of the order, but after a slow start, he's been batting towards the bottom half. Should he continue this production level, White Sox Manager Will Venable may need to consider moving him back to the top of the lineup, which will only increase Vargas' value down the stretch. Next up for Vargas and the White Sox is a three-game home series against the Houston Astros.

Spencer Steer Fri May 2 8:50am CT

Cincinnati Reds first baseman Spencer Steer enjoyed a solid afternoon against the St. Louis Cardinals' pitching staff as he went 2-for-3 with a home run, one RBI, one run scored, and one walk. There was a rain delay in this game, but that didn't stop Steer and the Reds from producing at the plate, as they went on to win 9-1 to salvage getting swept in the three-game series against the Cardinals. Steer has gotten off to a slow start to the season, as he missed most of spring training with a shoulder injury, but has come on of late, slashing .286/.355/.500 in his last seven days. On the season, he is still slashing .189/.267/.316 with three home runs, 15 RBI, and nine runs scored. Fantasy managers who have held on this long may reap the benefits soon, as Steer has hit 20-plus home runs in the last two seasons and is a career .241 hitter.

Ryan McMahon Fri May 2 8:40am CT

Colorado Rockies third baseman Ryan McMahon swatted his third home run of the season in the seventh inning against future Hall-of-Famer Justin Verlander. The home run was a solo shot, bringing the Rockies within one run of the San Francisco Giants. The Rockies then scored two more runs in the eighth inning off of Tyler Rogers to walk away with the 4-3 victory. It's been a struggle for McMahon in 2025, as he's slashing an ugly .152/.280/.267 with three home runs, nine runs scored, and five RBI to go with one stolen base. McMahon is a career .240 hitter, so fantasy managers who have held on this long should see some progression as we get closer to summer in Coors Field. Thursday's game against the Giants was the first of a four-game series, so they have three games left on the road before they start a six-game homestand on Tuesday.

Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Fri May 2 8:30am CT

Toronto Blue Jays first baseman Vladimir Guerrero Jr. came up in the eighth inning with two runners on and one out against Justin Slaten and sent his fourth home run of the season into the left field bleachers. In that moment, the Blue Jays were down 2-1 in the game, so the home run could not have come at a better moment. Before that at-bat, Guerrero Jr. was 0-for-3 with two strikeouts on the evening. The three-run shot provided the spark the team needed to hold onto a 4-2 victory, win back-to-back nights, and take the three-game series 2-1 against their AL division rivals, the Boston Red Sox. Next for Guerrero Jr. and the Blue Jays is a three-game series against the Cleveland Guardians at home. He will look to keep it rolling, as he is now slashing .267/.358/.422 on the season.

Mike Trout Fri May 2 8:20am CT

Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (knee) landed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday with a left knee bone bruise, Jeff Fletcher, Angels beat writer, reports. Trout was hustling out a ground ball on Wednesday and was removed from the game after seemingly coming up limping. After the game, Trout told reporters his knee was feeling better, but he was left out of the lineup Thursday and is now on the injured list. The Angels have downplayed the injury thus far, and manager Ron Washington added that the injury is not believed to be significant and that there is no structural damage. This is likely a proactive measure to sideline Trout for 10 days and have him return after the minimal stay on the injured list. However, no timeline has been announced yet. With Trout out of the lineup, Jorge Soler shifted to right field with Tyler Ward and Jo Adell occupying the other two outfield spots.

Sam Aldegheri Fri May 2 8:10am CT

Los Angeles Angels left-handed pitching prospect Sam Aldegheri tossed seven shutout innings during Thursday's start against Double-A Knoxville. He allowed just five hits and three walks. He struck out a season-best eight batters. This was a nice bounce-back outing for Aldegheri as he allowed five runs and six hits in his previous start. Through 21 1/3 innings of work with Double-A this summer, Aldegheri has posted a modest 3.37 ERA with a 1.36 WHIP. He has struck out 24 batters but showed weak command of his pitches as he has served up 12 walks. Fantasy managers should expect Aldegheri to push for a Triple-A promotion in the coming weeks if he can build off Thursday's start. He made his MLB debut in 2024 and logged 13 innings to the tune of a 4.85 ERA.

Everson Pereira Fri May 2 7:30am CT

New York Yankees outfield prospect Everson Pereira went 2-for-5 with two home runs during their contest against Triple-A Syracuse on Thursday. This was Pereira's second-straight game tallying multiple hits. Over his last seven games, the No. 14-ranked prospect in the Yankee system has held a .333/.400/.778 slash line with four round-trippers. Through his first 18 games of the Triple-A regular season, Pereira has posted a solid .284/.355/.522 slash line with one double, five home runs, and two stolen bases. Last summer, Pereira held a similar .265/.364/.512 line across 40 games at the Triple-A level. Pereira made his MLB debut in the 2023 season and could be in the mix to return to the Bronx later this summer if he continues this steady production.

    From RotoBaller

Carson Williams Fri May 2 7:10am CT

Tampa Bay Rays shortstop prospect Carson Williams went 2-for-3 with a home run during Thursday's contest against Triple-A Jacksonville. This was his third home run of the season and second in his previous two games. Through his first 28 games at the top level of the minor leagues, the infield prospect has struggled at times as he currently holds a modest .185/.312/.359 slash line with just three doubles, three long balls, and three stolen bases. Last summer, Williams spent his entire campaign with Double-A Montgomery, where he posted a .256/.352/.469 line with 20 doubles and 20 home runs. Fantasy managers should expect the No. 8-ranked prospect in the sport to push for a second-half MLB debut if he continues to improve at Triple-A.

    From RotoBaller

Tanner Houck Fri May 2 5:30am CT

Boston Red Sox right-hander Tanner Houck turned in a quality start in a 4-2 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays on Thursday. Houck allowed one run on four hits over seven innings while striking out six but had to settle for a no-decision in the contest. The outing was encouraging for the veteran hurler, who has struggled in 2025, posting a 0-2 record, 6.38 ERA, 1.47 WHIP, and 30 strikeouts over 36 2/3 innings of work. Houck has been a reliable fantasy starting pitcher over much of his career, so fantasy managers will want to stay patient with him despite the early-season struggles.

    From RotoBaller

Zac Gallen Fri May 2 5:20am CT

Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen turned in an excellent start in a 4-2 win over the New York Mets on Thursday. Gallen allowed one run on two hits over six innings of work while striking out eight and walking three. His only mistake in the contest was a solo homer to Juan Soto in the sixth inning. Gallen has been off to a rough start in 2025, posting a 2-4 record, 4.93 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and 43 strikeouts over 38 1/3 innings of work. That being said, he has a strong track record over his career, so fantasy managers will want to stay patient with him. Hopefully his taming of a tough Mets lineup on Thursday is the first step in the right direction for Gallen.

Gleyber Torres Fri May 2 5:00am CT

Detroit Tigers second baseman Gleyber Torres had another big game in a 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Torres went 3-for-3 with a solo homer and a walk to help propel Detroit to the win. The veteran infielder has now homered in two of his past three contests as he looks to heat up in May. Torres is now hitting .300 with four homers, 13 runs, 15 RBI, and four steals across 80 at-bats this season. He has been especially hot of late, with a .333 average, two homers, and eight RBI over his past seven games. Torres should be locked into fantasy lineups while he's on a hot streak at the plate.

    From RotoBaller

Jose Trevino Fri May 2 5:00am CT

Cincinnati Reds catcher Jose Trevino had a big game in his team's 9-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on Thursday. Trevino went 1-for-3 with a homer and three RBI to help power the Reds to the lopsided victory. The veteran catcher kicked off the scoring in the game with a two-run homer in the second inning and later added a sacrifice fly in the fourth. Trevino is now hitting .324 with three homers, 15 runs, and nine RBI across 68 at-bats for the Reds. The backstop has not been known for his bat over his career, so it is unlikely he will keep his average above .300, but he's hitting .333 with two homers over his past seven games. Trevino is worth streaming in deep leagues during this mini hot streak if you need help at the catcher position.

    From RotoBaller

Andy Ibanez Fri May 2 4:50am CT

Detroit Tigers infielder Andy Ibanez went 2-for-5 with two runs, two RBI, and a stolen base in his team's 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Ibanez logged a pair of RBI singles in the contest, giving him a .229 average, two homers, six runs, 10 RBI, and two stolen bases across 48 at-bats this season. He has been hot of late, hitting .385 over his past seven contests, putting him on the map in deeper fantasy leagues as a potential streamer while he's seeing the ball well at the plate.

    From RotoBaller

Luis Garcia Jr. Fri May 2 4:50am CT

Washington Nationals second baseman Luis Garcia Jr. went 2-for-4 with a double, a run, an RBI, and two stolen bases in a 4-2 win over the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday. Garcia gave the Nationals a 3-1 lead with his RBI single in the sixth inning. The veteran infielder is now hitting .253 with five doubles, two homers, 15 runs, nine RBI, and six steals across 99 at-bats in 2025. Garcia stole 22 bases last season and is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues for managers who need stolen bases.

    From RotoBaller

Dillon Dingler Fri May 2 4:40am CT

Detroit Tigers catcher Dillon Dingler had a big game in his team's 10-4 win over the Los Angeles Angels on Thursday. Dingler went 3-for-5 with a three-run homer to help power the Tigers to the win. The second-year catcher broke a 4-4 tie with his three-run blast in the eighth inning, a shot that traveled 409 feet with an exit velocity of 101 MPH. Dingler is now hitting .291 with four homers, eight runs, and 15 RBI across 86 at-bats for the Tigers this season. He is setting up as a decent option as far as fantasy catchers go.

    From RotoBaller

Maikel Garcia Fri May 2 4:30am CT

Kansas City Royals third baseman Maikel Garcia had a big game in an 8-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Thursday. Garcia went 3-for-5 with a double, a run, an RBI, and three stolen bases to help propel the Royals to the win. The veteran infielder was a terror on the basepaths in the win, bringing his season total to seven stolen bases, to go along with a .296 average, nine doubles, two homers, 12 runs, and 11 RBI across 108 at-bats. After stealing 37 bases in 2024, Garcia has proven his fantasy value as one of the top base-stealers in the American League.

    From RotoBaller

Blaine Crim Thu May 1 11:20pm CT

Texas Rangers firstbase prospect Blaine Crim is being called up from Triple-A Round Rock for his major league debut. Crim was the PCL Player of the Week earlier this season and is slashing .313/.365/.565 with seven home runs and 25 RBI. The seven home runs are tied for the league lead, and the RBIs are the sixth-most in the PCL. In 2023 and 2024 at Triple-A, theformer 19th-round draft pick has slashed .283/.378/.487 with 42 home runs, a 17.8 percent strikeout rate, and a 12.1 percent walk rate over 267 games. The 5-foot-10 slugger has also been durable, playingin at least 132 minor league games in three consecutive seasons. His first test will be a hard one, though, as the Rangers take on the Mariners' Bryan Woo, who owns a 3.09 ERA and 0.97 WHIP on the season, but worse in his road starts (4.26 ERA). Crim is probably left to the waiver wire in redraft leagues as his stay could be a short one, but he'll certainly be a cheap DFS play who could surprise with a home run.

    From RotoBaller

Ethan Salas Thu May 1 10:40pm CT

San Diego Padres catching prospect Ethan Salas has been out of action for Double-A San Antonio since April 17 due to back spasms. The Padres' second-ranked prospect "has returned to both swinging a bat and throwing from behind the plate," so he appears to be nearing a return. Through 10 games played this season, the 18-year-old has gone 6-for-32 (.188) with just one extra-base hit, but has stolen two bases and owns a 6:5 BB:K in 41 plate appearances. As the youngest player at Double-A, it's not a surprise to see some early struggles at the plate, but look for him to gain some momentumlater in the year. MLB's 30th-ranked prospect is still a couple of years away from a debut, but he remains a talent that dynasty managers should be keeping an eye on.

    From RotoBaller

Bubba Chandler Thu May 1 10:20pm CT

Pittsburgh Pirates pitching prospect Bubba Chandler was dominant again in Thursday's start for Triple-A Indianapolis, yielding just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over five innings pitched. The righty's pitch count hit 71, and he also hit 100.4 mph on the radar gun. Through six starts, Pittsburgh's top prospect owns a 1.42 ERA, 0.67 WHIP, and a 31.9 percent K-BB% over 25 1/3 IP. MLB's 14th-ranked prospect is ready for a tougher test in the big leagues. Looking ahead, if they would like to have him debut at home, the fifth spot in the rotation would have a turn against Atlanta on May 11, or they could wait for a seven-game home stand against the Reds and the Brewers that begins on May 19. Regardless, the 6-foot-3 hurler is the top pitching stash for fantasy managers who can spare a bench spot or have an available NA spot.

    From RotoBaller

Andrew Painter Thu May 1 9:50pm CT

Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter made his fourth start of the season on Thursday, allowing three earned runs on three hits (two HR) and no walks while striking out two over four innings of work for Single-A Clearwater. The righty threw only 42 pitches, one shy of his season-high, but 31 of them went for strikes. The team has indicated that they intend to have him debut in the majors sometime in July, so expect to see his pitch-counts begin to rise over the next severalstarts, and with Double-A being the highest level the 6-foot-7 hurler has achieved to this point, one would expect a move beyond Single-A soon as well for that timeline to hold. The former first-round draft pick would be a stash candidate as he gets closer to a debut, so interested managers should continue to monitor his progression, as any hiccups would cause a delay in when he arrives in the big leagues.
