BOX SCORE SCOREBOARD

Gavin Sheets crushed a two-run homer in the first inning to spark a 24-hit attack as the San Diego Padres notched their largest margin of victory in franchise history, routing the slumping Colorado Rockies 21-0 on Saturday night in Denver.

Fernando Tatis Jr., Xander Bogaerts, Jake Cronenworth and Jason Heyward also homered. Jackson Merrill had four hits, and Elias Diaz and Luis Arraez had three hits apiece to help back Stephen Kolek (2-0), who tossed a five-hit shutout with seven strikeouts in his second major league start.

The Padres set a season high for runs and hits for the second straight night after Friday's 13-9 win in Denver on 16 hits, and its 24 hits tied a franchise record. Every position player except for reserve left fielder Brandon Lockridge (0 for 1 with a walk) had at least a hit on Saturday, and eight had more than one.

Colorado has dropped eight in a row, including five straight on its homestand that ends Sunday. The Rockies have been outscored 63-18 in the five games. Catcher Jacob Stallings pitched the final two innings and yielded one run on two hits with no walks and one strikeout.

Red Sox 10, Royals 1

Rafael Devers went 4-for-4 with three RBIs, Trevor Story hit a three-run homer and Carlos Narvaez added a two-run blast as visiting Boston snapped Kansas City's seven-game win streak.

It was the second four-hit game of the season for Devers and 15th of his career. Ceddanne Rafaela tripled, doubled and scored twice, Jarren Duran went 2-for-5 with an RBI and two runs for Boston. Garrett Crochet (4-2) picked up the win, limiting Kansas City to one run on seven hits over seven innings.

Shea Langeliers went 4-for-5 with a three-run homer and a two-run double and the host A's rallied to beat New York.

Luis Urias hit a solo homer and Brent Rooker added a three-run shot for the Athletics, who trailed 6-4 after Aaron Judge and Oswald Peraza homered in the Yankees' five-run sixth. It was Judge's second homer of the game -- he leads MLB with 14 -- but the Yankees had their three-game winning streak snapped.

Grant Holman (4-0) earned the win with 1 1/3 scoreless innings. Mason Miller recorded five outs -- four on strikeouts -- for his 11th save. Tyler Soderstrom had two hits and two RBIs for the Athletics, who scored a combined seven runs in the seventh and eighth innings to end a three-game skid.

Cubs 6, Mets 5

Cade Horton got a win with four innings in relief in his major league debut as Chicago made an early lead stand, hanging on for a victory over host New York.

Called up to replace injured Shota Imanaga (strained left hamstring), Horton (1-0) followed opener Brad Keller and allowed three runs on four hits. The 2022 first-round pick struck out five, walked none and threw 77 pitches.

Dansby Swanson homered and hit an RBI single and Miguel Amaya notched a two-run single as the Cubs halted their first three-game losing streak of the season. Brett Baty smacked a three-run blast and a two-run shot to provide all of the Mets' runs.

Reds 13, Astros 9

Elly De La Cruz drove in four runs during a 10-run first inning as visiting Cincinnati rode that breakout frame to a victory over Houston.

The Reds continued the onslaught against Logan VanWey, with Friedl adding an RBI single and McLain a bases-loaded walk before De La Cruz plated Connor Joe with a grounder. Gavin Lux capped the uprising with a two-run single that scored Friedl and McLain as Cincinnati sent 14 hitters to the plate.

Braves 3, Pirates 2 (11 innings)

Matt Olson homered and later scored the eventual winning run in the top of the 11th on a wild pitch to propel Atlanta past host Pittsburgh.

Olson, who hit his seventh home run of the season in the third, was the automatic runner at second in the 11th and moved to third on a groundout by Ozzie Albies. Olson was unable to score on Sean Murphy's groundout, but he came home when Pirates reliever Chase Shugart (1-3) fired a pitch low and inside.

Scott Blewett (2-0), who pitched a scoreless 10th, worked a perfect 11th despite the automatic runner Alexander Canario reaching third on a sacrifice bunt by Jared Triolo. Blewett struck out Liover Peguero looking and retired Tommy Pham on a groundout to end the game.

Diamondbacks 3, Dodgers 0

Corbin Burnes threw seven scoreless innings, Eugenio Suarez hit his 12th homer and Arizona shut out Los Angeles in Phoenix.

Phillies 7, Guardians 1

Bryce Harper belted a two-run homer and Ranger Suarez threw seven shutout innings as Philadelphia topped Cleveland.

Kyle Schwarber extended his on-base streak to 45, moving into a tie for the fourth-longest streak in team history.

The Guardians, who are 20-10 in a run that started April 8, scored their lone run in the ninth on a sacrifice fly by Carlos Santana, marking his 1,100th career RBI. Cleveland starter Tanner Bibee (3-3) was almost as effective as Suarez, giving up one run over seven innings.
