With Kyler Murray inactive, Cards turn to Jacoby Brissett vs. Colts

Field Level Media

Arizona quarterback Jacoby Brissett will get the start against the host Indianapolis Colts on Sunday after the Cardinals listed Kyler Murray as inactive for the game.

Murray was questionable heading into the contest due to a foot injury suffered during the third quarter of last week's 22-21 loss at home against the Tennessee Titans.

Murray, 28, has not missed a game since sitting out Weeks 1-10 in 2023 while recovering from surgery for a torn ACL.

He has completed 68.3 percent of his passes for 962 yards with six touchdowns and three interceptions in five starts this season. He has rushed for 173 yards and one score for Arizona (2-3).

Brissett, 32, took most of the reps in practice this week. He has made 53 career NFL starts, with 30 coming during his time with the Colts from 2017-20.

The Cardinals signed quarterback Kedon Slovis to the 53-man active roster from the practice squad on Saturday.

Player Notes
Anthony Richardson Oct 12 12:50pm ET
Anthony Richardson

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Anthony Richardson Sr. (eye) suffered an eye injury doing band work during pre-game warmups on Sunday and is inactive for the Week 6 game against the visiting Arizona Cardinals, a source told Ian Rapoport of NFL Network. It's a new low point in the former first-rounder's career after losing the starting gig to Daniel Jones to begin the 2025 season. With Richardson sidelined, rookie Riley Leonard will be forced to serve as the direct backup to Jones for Sunday's game at Lucas Oil Stadium. It's unknown at this time if Richardson will be available to back up Jones next week on the road in Los Angeles against the Chargers. Richardson has only appeared in two games so far this year and has completed one of his two pass attempts for nine yards.

Evan Engram Oct 12 12:40pm ET
Evan Engram

Denver Broncos tight end caught five of his six targets for 42 yards during Sunday's Week 6 win over the New York Jets. He was the team's leader in targets, receptions, and receiving yards. Engram's Broncos tenure started off relatively slow, but he has come on strong lately with 13 catches, 104 yards, and one touchdown over his last three games combined. The 31-year-old will remain a low-end TE1 option heading into a relatively soft matchup against the New York Giants last week. New York most recently allowed tight end Dallas Goedert to explode for nine catches, 110 yards, and a touchdown.

Breece Hall Oct 12 12:40pm ET
Breece Hall

New York Jets running back Breece Hall rushed for just 59 yards on 22 carries during Sunday's Week 6 loss against the Denver Broncos. He was not targeted in the passing game. While Hall set a season-high in rushing attempts and total touches, his overall production was relatively disappointing as he averaged just 2.7 yards per carry. In addition to struggling as a ball carrier, it was equally frustrating for managers to watch Hall have no role as a pass catcher. All of New York's offense struggled in the defeat, totaling a mere 82 yards as a unit. The 0-6 Jets will look to get back on track ahead of a softer matchup against the Carolina Panthers in Week 7.

Jaylen Wright Oct 12 12:30pm ET
Jaylen Wright

Miami Dolphins running back Jaylen Wright is a healthy scratch for the second straight week on Sunday against the visiting Los Angeles Chargers at Hard Rock Stadium. Wright got off on the wrong foot in 2025 due to an injury and just hasn't been able to establish himself in Miami's backfield behind starter De'Von Achane. Although rookie Ollie Gordon II hasn't had much of a role behind Achane through five weeks, he has been the preferred chance-of-pace option over Wright, even though Wright is now healthy. The 22-year-old Wright has not played in a game yet in 2025 after carrying the ball 68 times for 249 yards in 15 games (one start) in his rookie campaign in 2024. He also caught three passes for eight yards. Fantasy managers can continue to leave Wright on the waiver wire in redraft leagues.

Efton Chism III Oct 12 12:30pm ET
Efton Chism III

New England Patriots rookie wide receiver Efton Chism III is officially active and will make his NFL debut in the Week 6 game on the road against the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. Chism will be active for the first time in his career, but he's unlikely to have a big role in the Patriots' offense. Stefon Diggs, Kayshon Boutte, DeMario Douglas, and Mack Hollins are all ahead of Chism on the receiver depth chart at the moment, as is fellow rookie Kyle Williams. The 23-year-old pass-catcher had a strong preseason and training camp, but it's unlikely that he's going to have a big role in New England's offense when all is said and done in 2025. For now, Chism is merely a bench stash in dynasty/keeper leagues.

Adonai Mitchell Oct 12 12:20pm ET
Adonai Mitchell

Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Adonai Mitchell is a healthy scratch for the team's Week 6 contest on Sunday against the visiting Arizona Cardinals at Lucas Oil Stadium. With Alec Pierce (concussion) returning after a two-game absence, Mitchell will be the odd man out in Indy's receiving corps. The 23-year-old is firmly in head coach Shane Steichen's doghouse after two big blunders in the Week 4 loss to the Los Angeles Rams that cost the team the game. Mitchell dropped the football just before crossing the goal line in what would have been a long touchdown catch, and then he was called for holding on a big running play that would have gone for a touchdown. After that rough Week 4, Mitchell has fallen down the receiving depth chart for the Colts and is currently behind Michael Pittman Jr., Josh Downs, Pierce, and Ashton Dulin.

Christian Gonzalez Oct 12 12:10pm ET
Christian Gonzalez

New England Patriots cornerback Christian Gonzalez (hamstring) is officially active for the Week 6 game on the road in New Orleans against the Saints on Sunday. Gonzalez will play despite being listed as questionable on Friday's final injury report. The Patriots will also have linebacker Marte Mapu (hamstring, neck), defensive tackle Milton Williams (ankle, illness), and cornerback Charles Woods (knee) are all active after being listed as questionable coming into Sunday's game. The 23-year-old Gonzalez missed the first three weeks of the season with a hamstring injury, so it will be something to watch for in Sunday's game. The former first-rounder's presence in New England's secondary will make life more difficult for quarterback Spencer Rattler and the Saints' offense. The Pats' defense/special teams unit should be a popular streamer this weekend.

Alvin Kamara Oct 12 12:10pm ET
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints running back Alvin Kamara (ankle) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the New England Patriots. He had been listed as questionable after being a limited participant in practice. The veteran running back has remained a productive ball carrier and pass catcher in his age-30 season, but we've started to see the Saints opt for somewhat of a split between him and Kendre Miller lately. Kamara's eight receptions over the last two games keep him in the high-end RB3/flex range for fantasy football, but he's no longer a top-tier workhorse. That is especially true against a Patriots defense that has allowed the sixth-fewest fantasy points to running backs in 2025.

Jalen Ramsey Oct 12 12:10pm ET
Jalen Ramsey

Pittsburgh Steelers veteran cornerback Jalen Ramsey (hamstring) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 divisional matchup against the Cleveland Browns. Ramsey came into Sunday's game listed as questionable. He did not practice on Wednesday or Thursday before putting in a full practice on Friday. The 30-year-old defensive back was expected to play after putting in a full practice on Friday. Ramsey will start out of the slot for Pittsburgh's defense in a plus matchup this weekend against Browns rookie quarterback Dillon Gabriel, who will be making just his second NFL start. Coming off Pittsburgh's bye, Ramsey, a seven-time Pro Bowl, has 14 tackles (eight solo), one interception, and four pass breakups in four games played in his first year with the Steelers. Pittsburgh's defense/special teams unit has been disappointing so far in 2025, but it'll be worth a play in fantasy lineups in Week 6.

DaRon Bland Oct 12 12:00pm ET
DaRon Bland

Dallas Cowboys cornerbacks DaRon Bland (shoulder) and Trevon Diggs (knee) are active for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Carolina Panthers. Both players had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity. Bland has been an impact defender in three games this season, totaling 15 tackles. Diggs has been slightly less involved on a per-game basis, but healthy for all five contests. Through the first five games of the year, he also has 15 tackles. Both cornerbacks are looking for their first interceptions of the year. They'll be tasked with slowing down a Panthers passing attack led by Bryce Young and Tetairoa McMillan on Sunday.

Quentin Johnston Oct 12 12:00pm ET
Quentin Johnston

Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (hamstring) has officially been ruled out for the Week 6 road contest against the Miami Dolphins on Sunday. Johnston was limited in practice from Wednesday through Friday and will sit out for the first time this year. It comes after his worst performance of the year in the Week 5 loss to the Washington Commanders, when he caught all four of his targets for a season-low 40 yards. Johnston will continue to be involved in L.A.'s passing attack all year, though, and he already has four touchdowns in five games in 2025. His next chance to play will come in Week 7 against the Indianapolis Colts. With Johnston sidelined this weekend, both Keenan Allen and Ladd McConkey should see an increase in targets in a great matchup against the Dolphins' struggling defense. Rookie Tre' Harris should operate in the No. 3 role for the Bolts.

Michael Carter Oct 12 12:00pm ET
Michael Carter

Arizona Cardinals running back Michael Carter is not expected to lead the team's backfield during Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. Instead, Bam Knight will handle lead-back duties for Arizona. The Cardinals have been experimenting with personnel after losing James Conner (foot) and Trey Benson (knee). Third-string running back Emari Demercado has remained in a third-down role, and it was Carter who led the unit with 18 carries last Sunday. However, he was relatively inefficient with just 2.8 yards per carry, which could be the reason why he's now in the backup role and Knight is getting an opportunity to lead the way. Knight, who had four rushes for 11 yards and a touchdown last week, hasn't started an NFL game since his rookie campaign with the New York Jets in 2022. The Colts represent a tough matchup, so Carter's reduced volume takes him off the fantasy radar in most formats.

Ja'Tavion Sanders Oct 12 12:00pm ET
Ja'Tavion Sanders

Carolina Panthers tight end Ja'Tavion Sanders (ankle) is officially inactive for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Dallas Cowboys. He had been listed as questionable but was trending in the wrong direction, according to reporting from ESPN's Adam Schefter. Indeed, the team has confirmed that Sanders won't play on Sunday afternoon. The 22-year-old is headed for his third consecutive absence, leaving Tommy Tremble, Mitchell Evans, and James Mitchell in line to earn increased snaps once again.

Tutu Atwell Oct 12 11:50am ET
Tutu Atwell

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Tutu Atwell (hamstring) is officially inactive for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Baltimore Ravens. He had been listed as questionable after tweaking his hamstring during practice this past week. Atwell's absence robs the Rams of a tremendous deep threat, as he had caught three passes for 160 yards and a touchdown over the last two games. Nobody in Los Angeles' offense can stretch the field quite like Atwell, but we could see a couple more deep passes dialed up for Puka Nacua, Davante Adams, and even Jordan Whittington this week.

Zay Jones Oct 12 11:50am ET
Zay Jones

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver Zay Jones (knee) is officially active for Sunday's Week 6 contest against the Indianapolis Colts. He had been listed as questionable after practicing in a limited capacity. Jones, who will catch passes from Jacoby Brissett this week with Kyler Murray (foot) inactive, has played roughly half of the offensive snaps in all four of his games this season. As a result, we have a pretty clear expectation of what his role will look like against Indianapolis. With just five catches for 37 yards this season, Jones remains off the fantasy radar in all formats.

Alvin Kamara Oct 12 11:43am ET
Alvin Kamara

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara (ankle) is officially active for the Week 6 game.

Fantasy Spin: Kamara should see plenty of touches in both the running and passing game this week and will be a No. 2 running back or flex option in all fantasy leagues.
