The NFL will begin bye weeks with the Falcons, Bears, Packers and Steelers all off for Week 5. Our first limited slate leaves us with some tough decisions to make in DFS. Here are some players to consider for your lineups at each position, as well as a few to possibly avoid.
Quarterbacks
Daniel Jones, IND vs. LV ($5,800): Jones totaled 10 touchdown passes across his last 16 games with the Giants. He already has four touchdown passes through four games with the Colts. He has also added three rushing scores. His ability to contribute with his arms and his legs makes him an appealing option against a Raiders team that has allowed 24.8 points per game.
Justin Fields, NYJ vs. DAL ($5,600): The Cowboys are a team to target because they have allowed the most fantasy points per game to quarterbacks. The Jets aren’t winning games with Fields under center, but he has still been productive for DFS purposes. He has rushed for at least 48 yards in all three of his games and he has three rushing touchdowns to go along with his two passing touchdowns. At his cheaper salary, he is even more appealing than Jones.
Player to Avoid
Baker Mayfield, TB at SEA ($6,300): Mayfield is battling knee and bicep injuries, but his status for Week 5 is not in jeopardy. However, he is going to continue to have limited weapons at his disposal. Mike Evans (hamstring) is still out and now Bucky Irving could miss time with foot and shoulder injuries. Missing two of his top players against a Seahawks team that has only allowed 16.8 points per game is not a recipe for success.
Running Backs
James Cook, BUF vs. NE ($7,100): Cook produced another monster stat line last week, rushing for 117 yards and one touchdown against the Saints. He has at least one touchdown in every game this season and he has run for at least 100 yards three times. With the Bills having one of the most potent offenses in the league, Cook has already received 17 carries inside the red zone. In two games against the Patriots last year, Cook combined for three touchdowns.
Breece Hall, NYJ vs. DAL ($5,600): The Jets have lost Hall’s top backup with Braelon Allen (knee) landing on injured reserve. While Hall still had a leading role, Allen received at least six carries in two of the first three games. With Allen going down early last week, Hall had 14 carries for 81 yards and caught five of six targets for 30 yards. Hall has already averaged 16.3 touches per game and now that number should be on the rise.
Player to Avoid
Travis Etienne Jr., JAX vs. KC ($5,900): Etienne torched the 49ers last week, rushing 19 times for 124 yards and one touchdown. It was his second game of the season with at least 120 rushing yards and his third game with at least 16 carries. As good as he has been, the Chiefs aren’t exactly a great matchup as they have given up just 19.0 points per game. Hall has an easier matchup and a cheaper salary, so this might be the week to steer clear of Etienne in DFS.
Wide Receivers
Jaylen Waddle, MIA at CAR ($5,800): The Dolphins have lost Tyreek Hill (knee) for the season, meaning that Waddle will now be their top wide receiver. Behind him on the depth chart are two underwhelming options in Malik Washington and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, so Waddle should receive all of the work that he can handle moving forward. In the one game that Waddle received double-digit targets last year, he caught nine passes for 99 yards.
Darius Slayton, NYG at NO ($4,300): Slayton should also benefit from an injury as the Giants have lost Malik Nabers (knee) for the season. Nabers missed two games for the Giants last season. In one of them, Slayton caught eight of 11 targets for 122 yards and one touchdown. In the other, he hauled in six of 11 targets for 57 yards. This is a great breakout spot for him against a Saints team that has allowed 9.57 yards per target to wide receivers.
Player to Avoid
Brian Thomas Jr., JAX vs. KC ($6,000): It has been a disappointing season for Thomas, who hasn’t topped 55 receiving yards in a game. While he had a rushing touchdown in Week 1, he is still looking for his first receiving touchdown. Finding the end zone could be difficult against the Chiefs, who have allowed just four passing touchdowns all season.
Tight Ends
Jake Ferguson, DAL at NYJ ($4,800): All signs are pointing to CeeDee Lamb (ankle) missing another game for the Cowboys. Ferguson has stepped up in his absence, posting 20 receptions for 122 yards and one touchdown over the last two games. He was targeted 21 times during that span and already has 39 targets for the season. Opposing defenses can’t just focus on stopping Ferguson with George Pickens being such a dangerous deep threat, so Ferguson could continue to receive ample opportunities to contribute in the middle of the field.
Dalton Schultz, HOU at BAL ($3,600): Nico Collins leads the Texans with 31 targets this season. Next up behind him is Schultz, who has 21 targets. No other player on the Texans has been given more than 12 targets. Schultz hasn’t been racking up receiving yards, but he does have 10 total receptions over the last two games. The Ravens have allowed 9.89 yards per target to tight ends, leaving Schultz with the potential to produce his best stat line of the season.
Player to Avoid
Travis Kelce, KC at JAX ($4,300): The Jaguars have done an excellent job on defense, allowing only 18.0 points per game. With Xavier Worthy back in the fold last week, Kelce finished with five receptions for 48 yards against the Ravens. Kelce only has an average depth of target of 4.9 yards and has been targeted on just 16.3% of his routes run. In what could be a low-scoring game, Kelce comes with some risk.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night in Week 5. Pacheco rushed seven times for 35 yards (5.0 yards per carry) and caught two passes for 13 yards and a touchdown in last week's win over the Baltimore Ravens. Pacheco finished second in carries and rushing yards in Week 4, but he's locked into a backfield committee with Kareem Hunt and Brashard Smith. Hunt finished last week's game with the most carries, and Smith's involvement in the offense has increased each week. Pacheco will have to contend with backfield competition and the Jaguars, who allow the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. The 26-year-old should continue handling RB2 duties this Monday night, but it will be interesting to see how the touches are divided. Pacheco is ranked RB35 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, putting him in the RB3/Flex conversation this week.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the Baltimore Ravens elevated quarterback Tyler Huntley from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of the Week 5 meeting with the Houston Texans. Lamar Jackson (hamstring) was ruled out on Friday after tweaking his hamstring during the Week 4 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs. As a result, Cooper Rush will get the start on Sunday. With that said, Huntley has had more than a few serviceable showings throughout his career. He's appeared in 25 games, throwing for 2,786 yards, 11 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions, adding five more scores on the run. If Rush has issues leading the offense while Jackson is on the shelf, Huntley may find himself under center. For now, he's not worth adding to fantasy rosters.

The Jacksonville Jaguars face the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday Night Football and will look to use the primetime game as a jumping-off point for the offense. Fans had high hopes for the team's offense with head coach Liam Coen entering the fold, but so far it has underwhelmed, mainly due to the performances of wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. The second-year man will look to bounce back in a big way on national television, but that is something managers have been hoping for each of the past few weeks. BTJ was a force to be reckoned with last season, but in Week 5, fantasy managers may have to continue waiting for this year's reckoning in a tough matchup with the Chiefs' secondary.

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was listed on the injury report with a shoulder injury, but practiced fully all week and has been removed from the report ahead of this week's matchup. Worthy will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night in Week 5. Worthy returned from injury last week and popped off with five catches for 83 yards and two carries for 38 yards in their win over the Baltimore Ravens. The 22-year-old led the Chiefs in both rushing and receiving yards in his first game back, showing just how much they missed his explosiveness on offense. Worthy will retain his WR1 role when facing the Jaguars, who are middle-of-the-pack in fantasy points allowed to opposing wide receivers this season. The young speedster should continue to be the focal point of the Kansas City passing attack for the next few weeks, until Rashee Rice returns from his suspension. Worthy is ranked WR8 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him a strong WR1 option this week.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Dallas Cowboys safety Malik Hooker (toe) was placed on the Injured Reserve list. He will now miss a minimum of four games. The 29-year-old suffered a toe injury during the Sunday night tie with the Green Bay Packers. While head coach Brian Schottenheimer indicated Hooker could miss a few weeks, most assumed he would avoid the IR. Unfortunately, that's not the case, with Dallas elevating Alijah Clark from the practice squad to help fill some of the void for Sunday's meeting with the New York Jets.

Kansas City Chiefs running back Kareem Hunt will face the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night in Week 5. Hunt rushed 13 times for 34 yards (2.62 yards per carry) and caught one pass for 13 yards in last week's win over the Baltimore Ravens. The 30-year-old veteran back continues to get valuable touches out of the Kansas City backfield despite his inefficiency, but that could change in the near future. Isiah Pacheco and Brashard Smith handled seven carries and four carries, respectively, in Week 4. The rookie Smith has seen his snap rate increase each week this season, and there's been a lot of buzz about getting him more involved in the offense. That said, Hunt will presumedly still be the lead back this week against the Jaguars, who allow the eighth-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs. Hunt is ranked RB32 in our RotoBaller Half-PPR rankings, making him the highest-ranked running back for the Chiefs and an RB3/Flex option this week.

Las Vegas Raiders tight end Albert Okwuegbunam was elevated from the practice squad ahead of Sunday's meeting with the Colts. Michael Mayer (concussion) has already been ruled out, marking his second-straight absence. In addition, Brock Bowers (knee) is "trending toward not playing." If Bowers ends up missing the Week 4 matchup versus Indianapolis, Ian Thomas and Okwuegbunam could see extra looks from Geno Smith. However, neither player can be trusted from a fantasy standpoint, so managers should look in another direction for Bowers' replacement. The same can be said for rookie Carter Runyon, who hasn't done much this season.

According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, Las Vegas Raiders tight end Michael Mayer (concussion) won't play in Sunday's meeting with the Colts. He suffered a concussion in the Week 3 loss to the Washington Commanders and didn't suit up in Week 4 against the Chicago Bears. While the 24-year-old practiced in a limited capacity during the week and carried a questionable designation, he'll need to sit this one out, potentially returning in Week 6 versus the Titans. With Brock Bowers (knee) also "trending toward not playing," Ian Thomas could find himself atop the depth chart. The Raiders also elevated Albert Okwuegbunam from the practice squad, so he may be in the mix for attention from Geno Smith. However, neither player should be considered a trustworthy fantasy option.
From RotoBaller
Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was listed on the injury report with a groin injury this week, but practiced fully and does not have an injury designation heading into Monday night. The Chiefs will take on the Jacksonville Jaguars on Monday night in Week 5. Mahomes completed 25 of 37 pass attempts (68%) for 270 yards and four touchdowns in last week's win against the Baltimore Ravens. His Week 4 performance was easily his best of the season as a passer, reaching new season-highs in completions, completion percentage, passing yards, and passing touchdowns. The 29-year-old will look to build on that impressive performance against the Jaguars, who are middle-of-the-pack in fantasy points allowed to opposing quarterbacks this season. The Kansas City superstar's best game of the year coincided with the return of Xavier Worthy, so maybe the duo can keep the good times rolling in a game with the sixth-highest total this week. Mahomes is ranked QB2 in our RotoBalller rankings, making him a must-start QB1 this week.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, New York Giants wide receiver Malik Nabers (knee) will undergo surgery "this week." The wideout suffered a torn ACL and meniscus during the Week 4 win over the Los Angeles Chargers, prematurely ending his season. He was also battling a partially torn labrum and turf toe, which are expected to heal. Before going down, Nabers had 18 catches (35 targets) for 271 yards and two touchdowns. Hopefully, Jaxson Dart will improve throughout the remainder of the year, which should help Nabers be even more productive for fantasy managers moving ahead. In the meantime, Wan'Dale Robinson and Darius Slayton are expected to see extra attention from Dart for the rest of the 2025 campaign.
From RotoBaller
According to Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur, there's been discussions about opening the practice window for wide receiver Christian Watson (knee) after the team returns from the Week 5 bye. The wideout has indicated in previous weeks that was the plan. However, fantasy managers will need to wait for an official update regarding his status. Watson had a down year in 2024, amassing a career-low two touchdown catches. He also suffered a torn ACL during a meeting with the Chicago Bears back in January. With Jayden Reed (collarbone, foot) sitting on the Injured Reserve list, the Packers could certainly use Watson back in the equation. With that said, he'll likely be limited for at least a few weeks upon his return, so his fantasy ceiling won't be as high as usual. Green Bay will have 21 days to activate Watson once he's designated to return. If not, he'll miss the remainder of the 2025 campaign.

Buffalo Bills kicker Matt Prater heads into Week 5 with a matchup that fantasy managers shouldn't overlook, even against a Patriots defense ranked ninth in scoring. While New England has been solid at limiting points, Buffalo's high-powered offense projects to move the ball consistently, creating multiple scoring opportunities for Prater. Currently tied for ninth among kickers in fantasy scoring, Prater has delivered a reliable combination of accuracy and leg strength all season. The Bills' ability to sustain drives and generate red-zone chances gives him a strong floor and a ceiling capable of producing top-tier weekly results. Fantasy managers in all formats can confidently roster Prater this week, as his matchup and consistent production make him one of the most appealing kicker options heading into Week 5.
From RotoBaller
Las Vegas Raiders kicker Daniel Carlson has seen his fantasy stock slide as the team's inconsistent offense limits scoring opportunities. Last week, a blocked field goal left Carlson with a single-digit performance, continuing a troubling trend for fantasy managers relying on him for steady production. With Geno Smith and the Raiders facing a tough Colts defense in Week 5, the likelihood of sustained drives and red-zone chances remains low. Carlson's leg strength and accuracy are undeniable, but fantasy owners need opportunities, and the Raiders' offensive struggles make him a risky option this week. For those seeking consistency at kicker, it may be wise to explore alternative streaming options until the Raiders can stabilize their offense and create the scoring chances Carlson needs to return to top-tier fantasy relevance.
From RotoBaller
Las Vegas Raiders wide receiver Dont'e Thornton Jr. has yet to establish a consistent role in the team's offense, and his opportunities continue to dwindle as the Raiders shift toward heavier two-tight-end formations. In Week 4 against the Bears, Thornton saw just two targets and failed to record a catch, marking another quiet outing for the rookie. With Jakobi Meyers and Tre Tucker entrenched as the primary receivers and fellow rookie Jack Bech beginning to see occasional involvement, Thornton has fallen further down the depth chart. Until his target share increases or his role expands, fantasy managers can safely move on from Thornton in all formats. He remains a developmental stash at best, with little short-term fantasy appeal.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills tight end Dalton Kincaid continues to separate himself as the primary pass-catching option at the position, despite splitting snaps evenly in the offense. After seeing just two targets against the Saints in Week 4, Kincaid is a strong candidate to bounce back to his usual workload of around six targets per game. The third-year tight end has been a consistent playmaker, finding the end zone in three of four contests and ranking third on the team with 179 receiving yards on 14 catches. Most importantly, Kincaid leads Buffalo in touchdown receptions, solidifying his chemistry with Josh Allen in scoring situations. Fantasy managers should continue to view Kincaid as a dependable mid-tier TE1 who offers weekly touchdown upside, especially in a Bills offense that thrives on utilizing him in the red zone.
From RotoBaller
Minnesota Vikings running back Cam Akers has been elevated from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday's Week 5 matchup against the Cleveland Browns. For the third straight week, Akers will join the active roster as the third option behind Jordan Mason and Zavier Scott. The Vikings are still without Aaron Jones (hamstring) who is currently on the injured reserve. Akers hasn't seen much of the field with five carries for 19 yards this season. The 26-year-old won't offer streaming appeal for this contest.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Joshua Palmer has seen his involvement in the offense diminish significantly since his strong Week 1 showing. After drawing nine targets in the season opener, Palmer has managed just seven combined over the past three games, falling behind Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman in the pecking order. Through four weeks, he's totaled only 10 receptions for 138 yards, failing to provide consistent fantasy production or scoring upside. With Buffalo's passing attack spreading the ball around and Palmer's role shrinking each week, fantasy managers can safely move on in all formats. There are likely more impactful options available on the waiver wire capable of offering higher volume and better week-to-week reliability than Palmer at this point in the season.
From RotoBaller
Las Vegas Raiders tight end Albert Okwuegbunam has been elevated from the practice squad ahead of the Week 5 matchup against the Indianapolis Colts. The Raiders are in need of some depth with Michael Mayer (concussion) ruled out and Brock Bowers (knee) trending in the wrong direction. The 27-year-old hasn't recorded a reception in the league since the 2022 season with the Denver Broncos. Okwuegbunam figures to provide some depth, but isn't someone that should be viewed as a streaming option for this weekend.
From RotoBaller
Buffalo Bills running back Ty Johnson continues to play a modest role in the team's backfield rotation, logging between 20% and 33% of offensive snaps in each of the first four games. However, his on-field presence has not translated into meaningful fantasy production, as he's averaging just two carries for 10.8 yards per game. With James Cook III firmly entrenched as the lead back and quarterback Josh Allen consistently handling a share of the rushing workload, Johnson's fantasy value remains minimal. Unless Cook misses time, Johnson offers little more than deep-league or handcuff appeal. Fantasy managers should avoid starting him in Week 5 against a Patriots defense that has allowed the second-fewest rushing yards per game. Johnson's role is simply too limited to warrant consideration outside of the deepest formats.
From RotoBaller
Jacksonville Jaguars running back Bhayshul Tuten (shoulder) doesn't carry an injury designation into Monday's game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Despite being limited all week, Tuten is good to go for Monday night. Possibly, the Jaguars were just managing his reps because they know he's nursing a shoulder issue. Travis Etienne Jr. remains the workhorse back in Jacksonville, but Tuten continues to get mixed in as well. Through four games, Tuten has rushed 21 times for 88 yards and one touchdown. He has also hauled in three receptions for 40 yards and an additional score through the air. Tuten should be viewed as a touchdown-dependent flex for Week 5.
